Assembly instructions of the fitted wardrobe
Please take the time to read the instructions. Please do not just proceed by looking at the pictures alone! It is noticeable to you when you set it up. Thank you :)
For practical and safety reasons, please note the following:
It will be necessary to pay maximum attention to the various assembly phases, carrying out the necessary operations only in completely safe conditions to avoid damage to people or things. The components of our wardrobes have large dimensions and a significant weight, and consequently assembly can be extremely complicated or even not possible for some people. In any case, assembly cannot be carried out by a single person.IDAW cannot be held responsible for any damage caused after delivery or during assembly. Once the goods have been unloaded and received, their care is responsibility of the customer. Before proceeding with the installation, it will be the customer's duty to collect all useful information for assembly using the videos and assembly instructions provided by IDAW. We also remind you that during the installation phase
all the regulations in force for the respective countries in terms of safety must be respected. It will therefore be necessary to
use all the necessary personal protective equipment in order to guarantee a safe assembly.
Before proceeding with assembly, the customer must also check that all the components necessary for assembly are present and that the items are correct in order to proceed with the various assembly phases without interruptions. If the customer identifies any missing items (e.g. hardware components), he/she can send an email to info@idaw.eu in order to request the items in question which will be supplied as quickly as possible.Any unauthorized modification made to the wardrobe structure and its components or any improper use of the product will automatically void the product warranty as our cabinets must be installed following the instructions provided and respecting their normal working and use. IDAW cannot be held responsible for damages deriving from improper use or modifications made to the product.
The
drawer boxes (with 2 or 3 drawers), the chest of drawers, the bedside table and the 7-drawers chest of drawers are delivered to the customer already assembled. The customer must not disassemble the drawers in any way, but will simply have to follow the assembly instructions; otherwise, the warranty on the article will be lost. If the customer needs to disassemble the drawers, it will be necessary to contact us by email at
info@idaw.eu, explaining the reason of such need and waiting for the instructions of our team on how to proceed.
An important piece of information about the custom-made cabinet with depths of 45 cm or less.Usually, our closet does not need to be wall-mounted as it is quite heavy and stable. In certain cases, instead, due to the reduction in depth and the elevate height, it is mandatory to mount them on the wall. The person who performed the installation must fix it to the wall before installing the door to avoid the risk of falling forward. Please open the packages in the order listed. This will help you to avoid assembly difficulties!
When opening the package of metal parts, small parts and fittings, please ensure that no part is lost, since the parts are counted exactly and are only available in the number required for assembly.
If you also ordered LED lights, please note the following before setting up:The horizontal sensor LED bar with motion detector (
see video) is mounted under the wardrobe cover at the top (inside the cabinet). Use the two supplied screws for this.
The vertical LED bar (in the dividing side panel) (
see video) is installed in the inner cheek in which the milling is provided for this at the factory. In our video you can see how to assembly it with the wardrobe dividing side panel hole already prepared; however, it is much easier to install on a cupboard dividing side
lying on the floor or on the table. Be sure to start at the top, 2.5 cm below the end of the dividing side panel, on which the cupboard top cover will be attached later, when you insert the vertical LED bar in the horizontal wardrobe dividing side panel. Since the same LED lengths are used for different cupboard heights, it can happen that a small part of the lower, vertical LED bar is covered by the wardrobe base.
In order for the motion sensor to work properly, it must always be positioned at the top.
Horizontal LED strips: For the power cable, a hole should be drilled into the wardrobe top cover on the left outside the position where the LED bar is to be screwed on, so that the power cable can be routed above and behind the wardrobe to a socket.
Once you have assembled the whole wardrobe, reset the LED lights, while the doors are closed. Close the doors of the wardrobe, then switch off and on the general electric panel of the house, so that the sensors work correctly, when you open the doors.
Please note that there must be some space available for the transformer of the LED systems! The easiest way to accommodate the narrow transformer is behind the dividing side panel if there is at least 3 cm of space between one of the wardrobe dividing side panel and wall behind the side cover panel (when you have ordered fitted wardrobe). Alternatively, it can be placed behind the wardrobe back if the wardrobe can be set up approx. 2 cm forward. The third variant for the free standing wardrobe as for fitted wardrobe is to accommodate the transformer on the top of the cabinet cover: However, this is only possible if, in addition to the necessary centimetre that is required for the construction, there is about 2 cm more space up to the ceiling. The last option is to cut a cutout for the transformer in the wardrobe back: This has the advantage that it is easily accessible.
In the case of a corner solution with 2 linear wardrobes (one with depth 45cm and the other one with depth 61cm):The 61 cm deep wardrobe stands directly against the corner wall. In this wardrobe, the door of the last module (with normal hinges and without handles) will not be usable.
For the other door of this module, hinges with 180 ° opening are provided (please note: they are not delivered already assembled).
The hinges are simple to insert and must be attached to the doors using a hammer. Wardrobes with a depth of less than 45 cm must be fixed to the wall to ensure a greater stability and safety.
In case of a corner module 108 x 108 cm:To assemble the corner module, please watch carefully the video at this
link; below we repeat only a few fundamental points.
Attention: Before proceeding with the assembly of the corner wardrobe, you must also watch the more detailed
video on assembling a linear wardrobe and read the general instructions.
In order to assemble this wardrobe, you can start with the corner module, and then continue with the other linear modules on the sides of the corner. Or it is also possible to mount the corner module starting from a linear module, which was assembled previously.
Attention: If you want to insert a
clothes rail under the top of the corner module, proceed as follows (
see video):
Using an 8mm drill point, make a hole in the top from the side facing the ceiling. Then insert the screws.
If you do not have much space above the wardrobe, screw the holders for the clothes rail now before fixing the top to the wardrobe.
Now assemble the corner as shown in the
video:1) First, take the two pieces that form the corner and assemble them together with the supplied pins and wooden pins.
Attention: At the end of the assembly it is essential that the pre-holes, which will be used to fix the shelves, are located in the corner component on the right as shown in the photo and in the
video.
Place the longest part of the corner base on the ground. Insert the corner into the base and fix it with the pins and dowels.
2)
This step must be done in two people with the utmost attention and safety! If you have more than 2,5 cm space between the top and the ceiling, proceed as follows: Insert the back panel first, then slide the longest top in and raise it as much as needed to hook it onto the pins and the wooden pins. Continue by inserting the left side panel of the corner module.
If you have 1 cm of space between the hat and the ceiling, proceed as follows: First insert the back panel, then slide the longest top in and hook it only to the wooden pins (without using the metal pins). With a straight plate junction with 4 holes fix the top with the angle. This is useful for stabilizing the top and the angle, since no pins are used. Continue by inserting the left side panel of the corner module.
Attention: As long as the left side panel of the corner module is not mounted, the top is movable; therefore pay particular attention during this step.
3) Proceed with the assembly of the right part of the corner.
Insert the smaller base and screw it to the larger base; then insert the back panel. Finally slide the top in and screw it to the already mounted top.
Attention: The smallest corner base measures about 47 cm (
video). It should not be confused with the base of a possible 43.2cm / 50.2 cm wide linear module.
Continue with the assembly of the other parts of the module.
Attention: in the assembly video you can see that the left door has a profile (see photo). This video refers to an old corner model and currently the left door is supplied without that profile.
For the corner doors,
hinges with 180 ° opening are provided (please note: they are not delivered already assembled).
The hinges are simple to insert and must be attached to the doors using a hammer.
- - 1 - -Unpack a
cabinet dividing side panel (A) (all dividing side panels are the same). First attach the leveling feet (see the photo) to the first left dividing side panel only on the side facing the inside of the wardrobe (on the right side). Assemble the
leveling feet as shown in the drawing (right side).
IMPORTANT: Glue ordinary furniture felts (not included) to the bottom of the leveling feet to avoid the wardrobe from scratching the floor when it is moved. (
video)
If there are no holes for the leveling feet:With the help of a ruler, mark the points where the feet will be fixed; help yourself by referring to the base (or to the top as in the
video).
With a drill with a 9mm tip, make the holes for the feet.
Screw the four pins (see photo below) into the indicated holes. First screw the pins all the way in and then turn them back a little until the two holes are positioned vertically (see the photo with the arrows below). Please proceed precisely to ensure that they can be connected easily later. (
video)
- - 2 - -Unpack
the base (F)and the
top cover (E). Check whether the base and cover are correct for the respective module by comparing the dimensions with the drawing on the first page.
Use a screwdriver to open the milled groove, into which
the back side of the wardrobe will later be inserted, up to the edge (see drawing below). For this, the milled groove on the edge must be opened. That is why this enables the back side of the wardrobe to be inserted laterally. Carry out this step both in the base and the top cover. (
video)
- - 3 - -Insert the metal components into the holes shown below. Pay attention to the correct positioning so that the pins can be inserted later (in the base and top cover of the wardrobe). (
video)
- - 4 - -Put in
the base and the left side dividing panel together and tighten the screw shown below. (
video)
If you have difficulty assembling the side panel with the base, look carefully at this
video.
- - 5 - -Unpack
the back side of the wardrobe (C) and select the right one with the appropriate width for the respective module (the back side of the wardrobe is approx.1.5 cm wider than the module, as it is inserted into the milled groove in the cabinet side panels, base and top cover). (
video)
- - 6 - -Be careful with the next step!
Please do it in two in any case! (
video)
Put on
the top cover element with the help of a ladder. Insert the back side of the wardrobe and the top cover into the milled groove and then slide the top cover to the left up to the left side of the cupboard until the pins enter the holes. Now insert and tighten the screws. Attention: If the cover cannot be pushed in, check whether both the holes and the pins are correctly positioned as described above. If necessary first remove the cover and correct the position of the holes and pins. See also our montage film.
- - 7 - -Now unpack other
side dividing panel of the wardrobe, assemble the two
cupboard feet (don't forget the furniture felts) and screw in the pins on both sides. Pay attention to the correct position of the pins and the holes.
Proceed in the same way with all cabinet side panels.
On the last side dividing panel of the wardrobe on the right side, the pre-drilled holes are at a point that would only allow installation outside the cabinet. Do the following:
It is necessary to change the pilot holes accordingly. To do this, enlarge the existing pilot hole with a 9 mm drill head - so that it can also be reached from the "other direction" - and fix the feet on the left and inwards the wardrobe.
Watch this video to see how to do it.
- - 8 - -Now unpack the first
door in the appropriate width. The width is noted on the label on the box. (
video)
In the modules with two doors, the left door has a plastic dust protection. First assemble only one door (with two people) by screwing the hinges on the wardrobe to the dividing side panel.
If the height of the wardrobe ordered differs from a standard size, pre-drilled holes for mounting the hinges on the dividing side panel of the wardrobe may be missing.
Proceed in this way: Position the door exactly. Now fix the hinges, which find their place on pre-drilled holes, by screwing in the vertical screws.
Now take care of the hinges for which there is no pre-drilled hole: Unscrew not much the vertical screws of the door hinges that still have to be mounted. Please be careful not to unscrew them completely! With firm pressure and horizontally, just screw these screws into the dividing side panel.
The door is correctly installed if there is 1.6 cm of space between the floor and the door!
In case of mirror doors:In the package, you will find also metal bars, which have to be placed and screwed on the edge of the door (one on the upper edge and the other on the lower edge). In this way, you will get two protruding edges on the front of the door; these edges are necessary for the security of the mirror door itself.
- - 9 - -Assemble all accessories firstly (when one door of the wardrobe is already assembly). Make sure that the drawers and the shelves are not installed where are the hinges of the doors (unless it is a cabinet with only one door) are attached. To determine the position of the hinges, one of the doors was already installed.
- - 10 - -If you have ordered a drawer element, the instructions follow here. If not, please continue on with point 12!
The drawer module for installation inside the wardrobe is almost completely assembled. Only a few steps are required (see photos below).
If you want to assembly
the feet, which is not absolutely necessary, turn the module over and carefully turn it upside down (this step was not shown in the photos) to assembly them.
Then put your feet on and turn the module over again. Then position the element inside the wardrobe: either place the drawer module on the cupboard floor or mount it at a higher point: To place it further up, place it on a shelf.
The drawer boxes have a slightly lower depth than the shelves and can be set up flush at the front.
After the drawer element has been positioned in the cabinet, first place the closing strips on the left and right on the wooden pins provided and tap them into place (
attention: in the photos, the strips were installed outside the wardrobe, which you should do better rather than inside the wardrobe). The drawer module is not attached separately, but is stable due to its weight and usually standing behind the door hinges. The enclosed wooden dowels are only used if you install two drawer modules one above the other. A shelf serves as the cover shelf and support for the drawer box: it is either attached like the other shelves. This leaves a small gap between the cover shelf and the top drawer. The shelf can also just be put on if you prefer.
- - 11 - -The shelves are mounted with the screws shown in the photo. The shelf clicks into place and is thus firmly stabilized. (
video)
- - 12 - -Fasten each
clothes rail holder to the side panel with two screws on the side. Important: Mount the clothes rail either under a shelf or under the top cover of the wardrobe and as centrally as possible in the wardrobe depth. (
video)
The package includes a longer screw as well. You will need this screw only to fix the clothes rails in corner modules or larger modules (more than 110 cm wide).
- - 13 - -Use the Hex (Allen) key (included) and a spirit level to position the wardrobe horizontally. The leveling feet create a leveling of up to 5 mm.
- - 14 - -Now you can assemble
all doors.
- - 15 - -In the case of a wardrobe with handle K, proceed as follows:As shown in the assembly video, make the holes on the door with a wood drill of suitable diameter following the pre-holes indicated, making sure to drill straight. Use a 3 mm wood drill bit. Once you have made the hole with the 3mm bit, drill from the outside with a 6mm bit in order to enlarge the hole without risking ruining the handle.
Then position the door over the handle, matching the holes you just made with the bushings on the door underneath. Insert the screws into the holes and screw them lightly so as to insert them into the inserts of the handle panel.
ATTENTION: If the pre-holes for the screws do not correspond to the inserts of the handle, proceed as follows:
If the insert positioned in the handle is very close to the pre-hole in the door, slightly enlarge the hole.
If the insert is not close to the pre-hole, use self-tapping screws with a length of 35 mm and a diameter suitable for the hole, screwing them into the holes created directly on the handle (therefore without using the inserts). Attention: when fixing the screws, tighten leaving the screw head outside the door panel, so as to prevent the screw from going beyond the available thicknesses, thus damaging the handle externally.
In case of other types of handles (the handles are already milled in the “integrated” door variant), proceed as follows:Attention: Mount the handle precisely and straight! Drill slowly outwards on the pre-holes with a 3 mm wood drill and little pressure. A second person should check that the drilling is being carried out perfectly in horizontally to the door.
Then drill from the outside in using a 5 mm drill bit and enlarge the hole. Then mount the handle with the supplied screws. Do not tighten the screws immediately one after the other, but screw them in step by step, i.e. alternately, at the same time.
- - 16 - -Adjusting the doors.
Attention:
The indications given here below are intended to correct slight inaccuracies in the position of the doors, caused by multiple factors (such as, for example, the distance of the door from the wardrobe side panel, a variation in the height of the floor, the adjustment of the leveling feet , the quantity of clothes in a module, etc.).
Through these small passages, it will be possible to adjust the position of the doors in order to achieve the best possible result. We remind you that the adjustment made on one hinge does not necessarily have to be the same as that applied to the other hinges, but must be carried out according to the specific inaccuracies of each door.
Slightly loosen the screws (A) of all the hinges of the door in question to raise or lower the door.
This procedure must necessarily be carried out by two people in order to prevent the door from falling. After loosening all the screws slightly, adjust the door. Then, while one person holds it in place, the second person retightens the screws.
Turn the screw (B) inwards or outwards to move the door to the left or to the right.
Attention: if screw B is too loose, it could happen that the closed door does not touch the top and the base of the wardrobe and therefore stops a few millimeters away from the structure of the wardrobe. In this case, slightly tighten screw B.
Slightly loosen the screw (C) of all the hinges of the door in question to increase or reduce the distance between the door and the wardrobe structure.
This procedure must necessarily be carried out by two people in order to prevent the door from falling. After loosening all the screws slightly, adjust the door. Then, while one person holds it in place, the second person retightens the screws.
Attention: If these steps are not sufficient to correct the position of the doors, please contact a professional.
- - 17 - -Install door slow motion (one for each wardrobe door): The door slow motion is simply clipped to any door hinge, it must be a sufficient blow if it is necessary to use a rubber hammer AFTER it has been used or positioned correctly.
- - 18 - -Installing
the side closing panels:
The side closing panels are mounted flush with the doors so they form a straight line. The side closing panel covers 1,1 cm of the side edge of the wardrobe. Therefore there is 3 mm of space between the panel and the door.
If the panels do not fit into the gap between the wall of the cabinet and the wall due to unevenness in the walls or incorrect dimensions, they must be adjusted accordingly.
If you do not have the necessary adjustments made by an expert, we would like to point out that you have to be careful and act at your own risk.
For
fastening: Mount the side closing panels on the cabinet dividing side panel at three points with wood glue (not included) and on the wall with acrylic joint (not included).
If you have chosen a panel not to be made on measure, but to be cut on site in two exactly fitting strips, we would like to point out that this work is carried out by an expert and cut and assembled at your own risk got to.
Please note that this step involves a high risk of injury if it is carried out by inexperienced persons or if the safety regulations are disregarded. IDAW assumes no responsibility for this.
- - 19 - -Install
the screw covers: place them on the larger holes so that they are covered.
You will also receive a sheet with adhesive circles. These can be used to cover any visible holes, for example if you decide to move a shelf.
Depending on the colour of your closet, you will receive a bottle or a can of paint. In the second case, the brush is not included.
The paint can be used to make small touch-ups, if necessary. (
here the video)
- - 20 - -This step concerns
only the assembly of a sideboard (
video).
Place the top on the top cover of the sideboard and screw it with self-tapping screws (35 mm long). Attention: these screws are not supplied). Screw from underneath the top cover of the sideboard, until you reach the top.
Alternatively, you can use some double-sided tape. In this case, put some tape in two points of the top cover of the sideboard (about 5 cm from the edge, both on one end of the top cover and on the other one) and lay the top on the sideboard.
- - 21 - -For the montage of the
inner mirror:
1) First decide where to position the mirror.
2) Use the double-sided tape to first attach the mirror to the door. Please note that this step must be carried out by two people!
3) Attach the mirror to the door by tightening the security screws with a screwdriver (not an electric screwdriver to avoid breaking the mirror).
4) Finally, cover the screws with the screw covers provided.
